Holly kicked Leilani into a slow trot. We wont go far up... she thought Just far enough. Holly's breath clouded into a white mist infront of her face. The branches swooped low over her head, dusted with silver snow. Leilani's hooves printed a pattern in the delicate snow. The crunching of the particles beneath her horse's hooves made Holly shudder. The joys of winter. She began to canter but skidded to a hault when she spotted a small wolf wounded in the path. She watched it sorrowfully, and dismounted. She tied Layla loosely to the tree, and headed over to the pup. Her noise startled it but it was too cold, too wounded to react. She headed to her bag (that was strung around the tree) and pulled out a blanket. Holly scooped up the pup and cradled it in her arms. She jogged over to her horse, untied it, and mounted again holding the bundle in her arms. Cautiously, she checked the landscape to make sure it's parents werent lurking and when she was satisfied she headed off back to the village.
